In 2012, Ireland ranked second on a list of the top 20 chocolate-consuming nations. As shown by this interactive map available at confectionarynews.com, we ate an average of 9.9 kg per person in 2012 – just ahead of the UK’s average 9.5 kg. Switzerland topped the list of chocolate consumers, with an average of 11.9 kg per person.

To put this into the perspective of the past week: 9.9kg is equivalent to around 50 medium-sized Easter eggs…
